Call for
Ideas

14.8.-16.10.24

Migros Culture Percentage Sparx supports young creative artists by providing them with the time, space and financial freedom they need to develop their own project vision and professionalise their skills.

With an annual call for ideas, Sparx seeks innovative project visions that will be further developed during four months of Sparx studio time. We are looking for cross-disciplinary ideas that pursue a clear goal and aim to achieve a societal, social or ecological impact.

Sparx is committed to a contemporary, open and inclusive concept of culture. This includes ensuring wheelchair-accessible locations, compensating for travel to Sparx's support programmes and paying social security contributions for the cultural creators it supports.

Project visions with impact

Migros Culture Percentage Sparx focuses on innovative project visions that are not only creative and cross-disciplinary, but also have a clear focus on social or environmental impact. Such projects help to find creative solutions to social challenges and thus strengthen social cohesion.

In order for a project vision to be supported by Sparx, it must focus on at least one of the following dimensions:

  • Contributing to positive change: Art and culture are used to address social challenges, stimulate change and uncover issues for which solutions can be developed.
  • Incorporating sustainability: Sustainability at all three levels (ecological, social and economic) is taken into account in the artistic/cultural idea.
  • Considering diversity and inclusion: Diversity and inclusion are used as an opportunity to find new ways of working together and to incorporate a variety of perspectives.
  • Innovation through art and culture: New creative approaches are explored to find solutions to current social issues.

Professionalisation as process

Sparx supports young creative artists who are at the beginning of their artistic and cultural careers and wish to further professionalise themselves. Sparx understands professionalisation as a process that encompasses artistic and organisational skills, networking and establishing a place in the cultural scene. The support builds on the existing strengths of the participants and provides them with targeted assistance in their further development.
