As part of «Roots», Liza T. Raheem, Noah Brun and Dschamila Hirsiger develop a documentary-poetic film. The film explores how curly and Afro-textured hair becomes an expression of identity, memory, and cultural belonging. Together with protagonists of color, the team investigates personal stories, social influences, and visual forms of resistance and self-empowerment. At the heart of their work are collaborative processes, an experimental visual language, and the question of how visibility can be created beyond Eurocentric beauty standards. In this way, the project opens up new perspectives on hair, the body, and cultural identity.
