Motherland

Kairo Fumilayo Edward and Joëlle Antoine Gbeassor develop artistic works from Black and migrant perspectives on home, belonging, and Swiss identity. In its research, it brings together theory, personal experiences, and cultural influences with sounds, objects, and symbols drawn from everyday Swiss life and traditions. This results in hybrid, interdisciplinary approaches that question familiar narratives and challenge fixed notions of culture. Their work positions itself as both a political and poetic contribution to a more diverse and open Swiss cultural landscape.
